Rafael collaborates with foundations, nonprofits, and public agencies to design, implement, and evaluate strategic initiatives. Rafael finds joy in helping teams and organizations realize their potential through short- and long-term projects. He uses the lenses of cultural humility, intersectionality, and stakeholder empowerment within a coaching framework to strengthen teams and communities.

Rafael brings over 7 years of applied research, evaluation, and community engagement skills to Engage R+D. His interest in supporting social sector organizations began early in his career with evaluation and project management roles in adult literacy and youth development. Rafael is particularly skilled at using participatory research techniques to create opportunities for shared goal alignment and achievement.

In addition to his research and evaluation experience, Rafael brings expertise in identifying organizational silos through single source of truth (SSOT) process design and coaching. He applies this skill set both in client engagements for Engage R+D, and in community-led projects around the San Francisco Bay Area. Rafael has significant experience coordinating database capacity-building projects with governmental, non-profit, and private sector stakeholders. He is a native speaker of both English and Spanish.
